Listen to your body

As mentioned, this morning I slept through my alarm.  I’ve felt pretty rundown these last couple of days and I needed the sleep.  Plus, everyone around me at work is getting sick and I feel like I might be fighting off something.  Having said that, I was determined to do today’s workout at home after work.  FUCK.  I DNF’d.  The workout was:

5 rounds with 3:00 rest between rounds (post fastest and slowest rounds)

  • 10 burpees
  • 20 cal row
  • 10 burpees

All out / max effort every round.  I texted Jarrod, as I read on the Craic blog that there was some scaling and he told me to do 5 burpees instead of 10. I got home after work and set up my space.

I got through two rounds (1:41, 2:00 respectively) and started my third round. I got into about 15 cals into the row and my body just stopped.  It wasn’t my head (since Crossfit, I’ve learned that your mind will tell you to stop much earlier than your body does or is ready to) – but this time, my body just stopped moving.  I got a terrible pain in my side, my left grip gave out…mid-workout.  I couldn’t go any longer.  It sucked.  What a shit show.  But also proof that I should have listened to what my body was telling me this morning and took the day off.  I could have done this workout any other time – as I have the means to do so.  Oh well.  At least I got a couple of rounds in.  Learned a valuable lesson today.
