True Inspiration

With all the inspirational quote internet memes going around, I saw this one and thought that it summed up my life the best right now.  After a hiatus, and a chance to reset while I was traveling for work…I’m back at it at Craic.  Felt good to be back. Even got to wear the majority of my gear 🙂  We did 20 minutes of snatch skill work (well, the class did…) I did 20 minutes of clean work at 65# and it felt HEAVY.  Being away for almost a month hurts!  Then we did 21-15-9 of front squats (the class did OHS) @ 65# and ring rows (as Rx was pull-ups).  I managed to do all of it unbroken and just tried to maintain a slow and steady pace.  Final time was 3:54.  Then I went to PT for my shoulder.  It’s bugging me a ton after being on the road for three weeks.  Izzy was there hanging out, as usual!

Here are a few pics from my adventures while I was traveling.  Lots of fun and now it’s back to reality.

Gracie Bella, my friend's cat. I cuddled her a little too much because I was missing my kitties at home. She is not impressed.

Easing Back Into It

After working out a bunch this weekend at the CFL1 seminar and recovering from being sick, I decided to take this next week to get back into it – but ease back into it. I took Monday off (my hamstrings were killing me!) and then I went in on Tuesday.

The workout consisted of two phases.  For me, it was:

A) 5 x (5 negative ring rows, followed by  10 15# – 20# bicep curls)

B) 3 x AMRAP 3

  • 20 single unders
  • 10 ring rows

I don’t remember my scores.  I was sure to only take 1.5 steps back on the ring rows per my last session with Jarrod.  They definitely got hard, but I feel like I’m getting a bit stronger.

Last night I went and got some work done on my shoulders by Nichole and decided to let her work ease into me and also didn’t want to just jump right back into working out all the time and getting myself sick again.  This cold / flu / sickness keeps on leaving me and coming back and I’d just like to have a month where I’m not sick.  So I didn’t workout today.  Will plan on doing so tomorrow.

Yippee!

Today was a rest day.  Feeling really tired and just needed to sleep in.  Went to the doctor today to get my follow-up results on the MRA that I had on Monday, and…

It’s not a slap tear!  It’s a partial tear of the rotator cuff ligament, which hopefully can be improved from doing bullet proof shoulders and some other PT exercises diligently over the next few months.  If there is no improvement, it means that I have floppy ligaments or something and we will have to re-evaluate.  The BEST news is that I can start doing shoulder to overhead again.  Just need to take my time building back up with the weight.

So no more bench pressing instead of shoulder to overhead!

Or any of this:

Tomorrow, I’m judging at Crossfit Southie for the New England Finals.  Should be fun! (Although all I really want to do it go into the gym!)
