Things on the Interweb

Today’s workout was tailor made for me not actually doing it.  Not cherry picking, but just too shoulder intensive and I didn’t want to go in and modify EVERYTHING.

Instead, I have discovered amazing things on the interwebs.  And followers of this blog (and those who personally know me) will be surprised to find that the below has nothing to do with cats!  But because I am the Crazy CatFitter, I will post this one picture of an adorable kitten and then let you see the interweb stuff that I have been enjoying lately.

First, if you haven’t seen the video of the #twerkingfail

And then here’s the true story behind it. #awesome

And then, for all you bros and gals that don’t know what to do with those old shorts that rip or don’t fit you anymore….Recycle them into a fancy dress.

And lastly, I went onto Facebook.  Trying to remember the brand of bikes that I have been eyeing around town…and my Facebook peeps didn’t fail me!  Here was my post:

“Cryptic description, but hoping FB peeps can help. Does anyone know the brand of bicycles that are super colorful and for casual riding about town? They are bicycles that look like hipsters might ride them around…only way cooler. Can’t remember the brand…”

I got answers from Hotwheels to Huffy…but a few finally gave me the answer I was looking for – Republic Bikes.  This is next on my list to save up for.  Now I have to figure out the color scheme (which is the hardest part!)

Nom Noms

Rest day today for me.  3 pretty tough days and my body needed the rest.

Haven’t really mentioned my eating habits as of late because I forget to blog what I eat, but for the record, I’ve managed to stay on the straight and narrow for the last couple of weeks.  Niko is also doing this with me – so it makes things easier.

We’ve been eating Paleo Power Meals for most of our dinners, which make life a lot easier and delicious. When we have leftover stuff, we usually scramble it with some eggs.  Yummy!  You can learn more about its origins and owner here:

Also, here are some pics that make up what else we’re eating:

Rest Day

Today was a rest day.  I’m trying to stay consistent about my rest day rule, which is to do no more than 4 days in a row.  Today’s WoD looked kind of fun – it was a 10 minute AMRAP 5 HSPU, 7 front squats (95#), 9 situps.  Alas, I did not go.  I’m running tomorrow in Sonia’s Run and then doing a private session with Jarrod on Sunday…that would be six days in a row without rest.

I’ve been craving a good hamburger with the bun and fries for some time now and realized that I was filling this void by having mini-cheats throughout the week.  I decided to get the burger last night at Five Guys.  It was delicious, but I felt TERRIBLE after.  Definitely got that out of my system and I’m back on track.  I’m also determined to win Craic’s next NO BREAD challenge which starts on October 1st.

Rest

So I’m trying to be better regimented about rest and going no more than 4 days in a row working out.  I didn’t take enough rest these last couple of months and saw that I was getting diminishing returns.

Rest Day

I know rest days are necessary, but I hate them.  I feel all lazy and useless.  Oh, and today’s WoD was NOT Fran, it was actually Grace – which I would have loved to do (30 clean and jerks for time).

I emailed my friend Susie last night (who is also a Crossfitter) to walk me off the ledge.  She reminded me of the importance of rest and how her husband (also a Crossfitter, you can follow his blog here) makes her take rest days because he knows the importance of them.

I guess it’s cherry picking in reverse.
